The YCLSA in the Moses Mabhida Province , has learnt with deep shock and sadness, of the death of its District Secretary in the Lower South Coast District Comrade Khaya Mbambo. The YCLSA expresses its heartfelt condolences to the Mbambo family for the great loss encountered.

Comrade Malunguza, as he was affectionately known, died yesterday evening through a hail of bullets. He was with three others, when an unknown assassin pulled a high powered rifle on them, fatally shooting Cde Khaya and one other while injuring two others, whom are still recovering in hospital. He was a product of our national democratic revolutionary alliance’s preparatory school, having served in the lower structures of the Young Communist League of South Africa, from Branch Secretary to a District Secretary in the Lower South Coast, also served as member of the Regional Executive Committee of the African National Congress Youth League and later as an Organising Secretary of SANCO in LSC.

At the time of his death, he was also a Provincial Convener of the newly established SANCO Youth Congress and SANCO NEC member.

The YCLSA calls on law enforcement agencies to leave no stones unturned to speedily resolve and arrest his merciless assassins. We further call on the Esparanza and Greater Umzumbe communities to come forward and work with authorities for a speedy resolution of this heinous crime against our comrade, Malunguza.

He leaves behind his wife Cde Nqobile and his siblings.
